MMC SCHOLASTIC CHALLENGE WINNERS PLACE IN THE TOP 15 FBLA CHAPTERS IN NATION

Chapter reaches finals in the Management Decision Making Competition

Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc. was honored to host a special luncheon ceremony and media event honoring Dayne Feehan and Matthew Colosi for their exemplary performance in both the MMC Greater Binghamton Scholastic Challenge as well as the Future Business Leaders Of America National Competition in Chicago last month.  These two students are a great example of future talent right here in the Southern Tier and we are extremely proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best in their future endeavors.

CHICAGO, IL – The Future Business Leaders of America chapter at Windsor High School competed at the National Leadership Conference in Chicago IL, from June 29th – July 2nd. Windsor Junior and Chapter President Matthew Colosi as well as Windsor Senior Dayne Feehan competed in the Management Decision Making competitive event. They earned the right to attend and compete in the National Leadership Conference after placing 3rd in the New York State FBLA Leadership Conference in April. The Colosi-Feehan team placed in the top 15 chapters competing in the event, placing them in the top 2% of competitive FBLA chapters in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and China.

The Management Decision Making competition consists of a rigorous 100 question multiple choice exam. The top 15 scores from that exam qualify as finalists and earn the right to present on a case study to a panel of judges. For the final round, Dayne and Matt were sequestered with all other finalists. Each team was given 20 minutes to analyze the case and prepare a 6-7 minute presentation, which was then delivered to the judges, and followed by a question and answer session with the judging panel.

Their advisor, Mr. Ryan Alo, worked closely with Dayne and Matt to ensure they were as prepared as possible. Their training schedule was demanding, and required hours of involvement 4-5 days per week from the beginning of May, to the end of June. For the last two weeks of June, the team was working 6-8 hours per day, Monday – Friday. Preparation continued in earnest upon reaching Chicago, where the Windsor team attended the Institute for Leaders, a 2 day intensive leadership & management training seminar.

Also heavily involved with the team’s preparation were Mr. Stephen Fernandez and Mr. Addison Brassard, two mentors from Modern Marketing Concepts, a global sales optimization firm headquartered in Binghamton, New York. Fernandez and Brassard had worked closely with the Windsor Team during their preparation and eventual first place finish in the 2015 Greater Binghamton Scholastic Challenge, a regional business competition featuring the Southern Tier’s top high school students that was started by Modern Marketing Concepts and its founder Dan Babcock. During the time in Chicago, Modern Marketing Concepts’s Fernandez and Brassard remained available and were able to take time to work with Dayne and Matt remotely. Earlier in the year, Katie Hart, Emily Dello, David Holland, Stephen Fernandez and Addison Brassard with Modern Marketing Concepts also served as judges for the first time in the 2015 regional FBLA competition.

According to Alo, “Placing in the top 15 in the nation is significant, especially considering Windsor hasn’t had a competitive FBLA team in almost a decade. However, it wasn’t about the success; it was about the experiences that Matt and Dayne will take with them to college and preparing them for jobs and success for life.”
