Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc. is one of only five Southern Tier organizations that are being recognized by The American Heart Association as Fit-Friendly Worksites in 2013-2014. Each company promotes physical activity and health in the workplace.
MMC joins Delta Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors, PC, Norwich Pharmaceuticals, UHS Wilson Medical Center and Visions Federal Credit Union. These five companies join Excellus BCBS, Lockheed Martin-Owego, Lourdes, SEFCU and Wegmans, which were honored during the previous application period.
Fit-Friendly Worksites reach Gold Level by incorporating various activities and programs that encourage physical activity, nutrition and culture enhancements into their company. Additions such as on-site walking routes or gyms, healthy food choices in cafeterias and vending machines and annual employee health risk assessments and online tracking tools.
“The Fit-Friendly Workplace Program offers a unique, easy-to-implement opportunity for corporations to increase employees’ physical activity, which will help improve their health– and their employers’ bottom line,” said Gina Chapman, Southern Tier Heart Walk Director. “Even people who haven’t exercised regularly until middle age can reap significant benefits by starting a walking program.”
